Privacy policy

This page is available in English and Spanish. If the two versions differ, the English version prevails.
Who we are
La Noticia, Inc. is the parent company of LatinaCon, Excelente Awards and Sterling Events Venue. When this policy says "we" or "us", it means La Noticia, Inc..
What this policy covers
This policy covers the two services La Noticia, Inc. runs for the whole group:
- This website, lanoticiainc.com.
- The shared sign-in service at auth.lanoticiainc.com. When you create an account or sign in on one of our brands' websites, that page is served by this service, and the same account works across all our brands.
Our brands and their own policies
Each of our brands is a La Noticia, Inc. property with its own website and its own privacy policy. A brand's policy covers the services that brand provides, such as selling tickets and taking payments, its newsletters, award entries or event inquiries. This policy does not cover those services. Read each brand's policy:
- LatinaCon: privacy policy
- Excelente Awards: privacy policy
- Sterling Events Venue: privacy policy
What the sign-in service stores
- Your email address, and any other email address you linked to your account.
- Your name and, if the service you sign in with provides one, your profile picture.
- Details a brand shares with the service so your account stays the same across our brands, such as a phone number you gave that brand or your preferred language.
- Your consent choices, such as whether you agreed to receive a brand's marketing emails, with the date and the wording you agreed to.
- Security records: your active sessions, with the IP address and browser they were opened from, and a record of each sign-in attempt and its outcome, which we keep for 180 days.
- If an email we send you cannot be delivered permanently, a one-way encoded (hashed) version of that address, so we do not send to it again.
We do not use passwords: you sign in with a link we email you, or with Google or LinkedIn.
How we use it
- To sign you in to our brands' websites and keep you signed in.
- To share your account details with the brand you sign in to, so that brand can provide its services to you.
- To send you the emails the service needs to send: sign-in links, and confirmations for your account and your privacy requests.
- To keep accounts secure, prevent abuse and investigate sign-in problems.
- To honor your consent choices and privacy requests across our brands.
Signing in with Google or LinkedIn
If you choose to sign in with Google or LinkedIn, we only request basic profile information: your name, email address and profile picture. We do not request access to your contacts, calendar, posts, connections or any other account data. You can revoke access at any time from your Google or LinkedIn account settings.
Cookies and analytics
The sign-in service uses an essential cookie to keep you signed in.
This website and the sign-in service use Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, to understand how they are used. We use Google Consent Mode v2. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics waits until you choose "Allow analytics" in our notice. Everywhere else, including the United States, it runs until you choose "Decline". Declining is as easy as accepting, and each site remembers your choice for 180 days in a cookie. Neither site uses advertising cookies.
Who we share your information with
With the brand you sign in to, which handles your details under its own policy. And with the service providers that run our services, which only receive the data they need to do their job:
- Vercel: hosts this website and the sign-in service, and stores profile pictures.
- Neon: hosts the sign-in service's database.
- Resend: delivers the sign-in service's emails.
- Google: Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager on both sites, and Google sign-in if you choose it.
- LinkedIn: LinkedIn sign-in, if you choose it.
- Cloudflare: an automated bot check (Turnstile) on the privacy request form.
We never sell your personal information.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account for as long as you use it with any of our brands. Records of sign-in attempts are deleted after 180 days. If you ask us to delete your data, we will delete it within 45 days, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. If an email to your address bounced permanently, we keep its encoded version even after your account is deleted, so we never send to it again.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to withdraw your consent to marketing communications. Use our privacy request form, which handles requests for La Noticia, Inc. and for any of our brands. It verifies your email address before anything happens, and tracks your request. If you prefer, write to us at privacy@lanoticiainc.com. You can also unsubscribe from a brand's marketing emails with the link at the bottom of any of them.
Children's privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us their data, let us know and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post changes on this page, and the date at the top shows when it was last updated.
